The original inn was located on the Atlantic's edge, hence the name The Oceanview. However, in 1960 mother nature decided it was time to relocate, and Hurricane Donna destroyed the Oceanview, leaving what remained on the other side of the Overseas Highway at the present site. The owner simply decided to rebuild the Oceanview right where it lay, and that's where it sits today on the bayside of Islamorada.

The old Oceanview had a storied past, once being used as a haven for smugglers and pirates alike. You can still walk Captain Larry's "escape trail" leading directly to Florida Bay.

Today the trail is a beautiful nature walk leading from the Ocanview to the water where white herons and egrets forage and play while locals and visitors enjoy boating, fishing and beautiful sunsets. Come enjoy all the Oceanview and the fabulous Florida Keys has to offer.
